# About The Local List

Independent guides to the people and places worth knowing, edition by edition.

By the editors of The Local List Last revised October 29, 2026 Applies to every edition

The Local List is written like a local paper’s weekend guide: short lists of businesses worth knowing, each with a label that tells you what it does best, rather than a ranking that pretends one company suits every job.

Every list starts with the whole local market and narrows it down using public records and the same checks for everyone. [Read how we choose](https://readthelocallist.com/how-we-choose/). We show when each list was last updated and keep a public [corrections record](https://readthelocallist.com/corrections/).

**Our promise**

No business can pay to be included, to change its label or to change what we wrote. Paid placements are always marked “Sponsored” and sit outside our lists. [How we make money](https://readthelocallist.com/how-we-make-money/).

Our standards

The same checks apply to every business, paying or not. [How we choose](https://readthelocallist.com/how-we-choose/).

The Local List is editorially independent. We may earn a fee when you request a quote through our pages or when a business buys a clearly marked sponsored placement. Neither affects who appears in our guides or what we write about them. Ratings and review counts come from public sources and are rechecked regularly. © 2026 The Local List.
